Together with you, we combine climate protection with economic return such that newly planted Generation Forests can retain their positive ecological effects in the long term.

Long-term offsetting and reduction of emissions
Rising global warming and environmental degradation are causing significant damage to our planet. The number of extreme weather events is increasing, the land is being eroded, water scarcity is growing, and species are disappearing. If we want to maintain the 1.5° target, we must act now.

Healthy ecosystems created by our rational management practices
We see rational management as a critical part of the solution. It means: We create an economical alternative to soybean cultivation and livestock farming in the tropics by joining forces with others to imbue the forest with value without destroying its fragile ecosystem. Working together in this way, we can create a positive effect in so many areas: a healthy climate, preservation of biological diversity, rich soil, drinking water, and jobs that combat rural poverty.

Achieving more for climate protection together!
We are firmly convinced that only together as a collective can we change the world sustainably and thus counteract climate change! To achieve our goals, we therefore rely on the international Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and bring about an effective and innovative climate protection measure with the careful reforestation of our generation forests, which compensates for CO2 in the long term and serves as a carbon store with a cooling effect.

Forests as carbon sinks with a cooling effect
Our forests form a closed ecosystem that creates an alternative to global deforestation; they absorb CO₂ over the long term and create new habitats for numerous species of animals and plants. One hugely important effect that benefits the climate is the ‘dual’ cooling effect of tropical forests: First, they extract CO₂ from the air by absorbing and storing it. Second, they are can form clouds through evaporation.

Our unique Generation Forests are true all-rounders – and deliver numerous benefits: They limit global warming, serve as water reservoirs, protect soil from erosion, secure long-term jobs, and create habitats for countless species of animals and plants. Their positive effects mean that our Generation Forests contribute to solving various challenges of our times, including offsetting CO₂, for example.
Our projects are designed to achieve demonstrable impacts. This is also why we are certified according to not one, but two standards: Alongside the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) in terms of Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standards (CCBS) in we are rated in relation to our actions benefitting the climate, biodiversity and our work with the local population.
Here’s how you can offset your carbon emissions
Apart from reducing our emissions, offsetting is also a critical step towards a climate solution for reaching the UN’s net-zero targets. We are offering you a sustainable method of balancing your own personal carbon emissions. Your share in our organisation will see 500 m² of forest planted and continuously protected. So your share, as a member, will have roughly the same positive impact on our climate as changing to a vegetarian diet. Three shares represent the long-term offsetting of an annual transatlantic flight from Hamburg to New York.
